Visa Types
1. Visa Exemption (Type A1)
Participants who are nationals of the following ASEAN countries are eligible for visa exemption for a maximum stay of 30 days. This visa type is non-extendable.
- Brunei Darussalam
- Cambodia
- Laos
- Malaysia
- Myanmar
- Philippines
- Singapore
- Thailand
- Vietnam

2. Electronic Visa-on-Arrival
For nationals of countries that are included in the list 'Countries eligible for e-VOA' on the bottom of this page, it is possible to apply for an electronic visa on arrival (e-VOA) to visit Indonesia with the Visa type B1- Main Purpose: General, Family or Social visit, Sub Purpose: Tourism, Family visit and Transit, which allows a stay up to 30 days, and is (online) extendable for another 30 days. This visa type will enable you to:
- Conduct activities related to tourism, and visiting friends or family.
- Participate in meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions as an attendee.
- Travel in Indonesia on a yacht (yachter).

3. Tourist Single-entry Visitor Visa (60 days)
If you are not eligible for a visa exemption or to apply for an e-VOA, the local partner, AIIOC, Universitas Airlangga, will help you with the application of a Single-entry Visitor Visa to attend ICAS 13. Please send an email as soon as possible with the following information to the AIIOC team at Universitas Airlangga (email: icas13@aiioc.unair.ac.id) with a copy to the ICAS 13 team (cc email: icas13@iias.nl):
- scan of your passport bio page
- scan of your passport cover
- scan of your passport photo
- your flight ticket
- your ICAS 13 acceptance letter
The local partner will help you apply for this type visa, so payment for the visa will go through AIIOC, Universitas Airlangga. After sending the above documents to the AIIOC team, you will receive an invoice. Please note that your visa application can only be initiated upon receipt of payment.
4. Indonesia Calling Visa
All visa applications for nationals of the following countries require additional authorizations from Immigration Office in Indonesia before travelling:
- Afghanistan
- Guinea
- Israel
- Liberia
- Nigeria
- North Korea
- Somalia
If you are a national of the one of the above countries, please contact ICAS 13 local partner, Airlangga Institute of Indian Ocean Crossroads (AIIOC) at icas13@aiioc.unair.ac.id. As this visa type requires additional processing time, please ensure to contact us as soon as possible with the following documents:
- scan of your passport bio page
- scan of your passport cover
- scan of your passport photo
- your flight ticket
- your ICAS 13 acceptance letter
The local partner will help you apply for this type visa, so payment for the visa will go through AIIOC, Universitas Airlangga. After sending the above documents to the AIIOC team, you will receive an invoice. Please note that your visa application can only be initiated upon receipt of payment.
Electronic Customs Declaration
Before you arrive in Indonesia, it is recommended that you fill out the Electronic Custom Declaration Form (https://ecd.beacukai.go.id/) in advance. You would need internet connection to fill the form. Therefore, it would be safest if you fill out the form before you depart from your home country, and save/screenshot the QR Code that you obtain after filling out the form. The QR Code will be required to be scanned at the customs checkpoint after collecting your luggage, before leaving the airport.
